ACC Regional Simulation Center Guidelines
Faculty and students are expected to follow the guidelines to ensure personal safety and preservation of resources.
- FACULTY: When you’re finished with your sims for the day, we kindly ask that you check out at the front reception area and let staff know that you’re leaving.
- To ensure a supportive learning environment, instructors are required to accompany students in the Simulation Center at all times.
- For a clean and safe space, please avoid bringing food or drinks into the skills labs, simulation rooms, or control rooms. Beverages with secure, spill-proof lids are welcome in classroom and debriefing areas.
- Students should wear clinical attire as per program guidelines and display their ACC student/faculty/staff ID badge.
- To protect the manikins, please refrain from bringing items that may cause stains, such as ink pens, markers, Betadine, or Chloraprep.
- Products, supplies, and equipment in the Simulation Center are intended for instructional purposes ONLY and are not safe for human or animal use. The Simulation Center will not be used as a health center for treating ill students, staff, or faculty.
- Isolation gowns will be reused. Students who object to using the gowns provided should bring personal gowns from their lab pack.
- To respect privacy and maintain focus, personal audio-video recordings and photographs are not permitted during skills or simulation sessions.
- Students must bring their lab packs for class and Open Lab. Additional supplies can be provided by Simulation personnel.
- Treat manikins with the same care you would a real patient. Manikins should ONLY be moved from the beds by Simulation personnel. For any questions about manikin use, please reach out to Simulation personnel.
- Help us keep the Simulation Center in good condition by returning all equipment and supplies to their designated locations. Dispose of sharps and trash properly, and avoid recapping or reusing needles and IV catheters.
- To ensure a safe environment, children and unauthorized personnel are not permitted in the labs. Please note that ACC is not responsible for injuries to unauthorized individuals in the lab.
